First Week in December 2015

Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break. I hope that everyone had a relaxing, turkey-filled, family time. It was fun to get together with my family and spend time eating, laughing and playing games.

Now it is time to settle back in--Can you believe that it is only three and a half weeks until the Holiday break.  Stay focused, ready or not, here we go!  Mid-term is December 11th.  Remember to check your Aspen and make sure you are caught up.  PARENTS: Remember there are no written progress reports, so check your student's Aspen account for current progress.

English: New vocabulary list #36-40--quiz on Monday, 12/7 for CP2. Finished reading Of Mice and Men and will watch the end of the movie and discuss.  Imagery Wheel for homework reading--remember to copy the quote and page number into the wheel from book of choice--one to two sensory quotes for Thursday, December 3rd.

Biology:  Starting new a unit--Circulatory, Excretory and Respiratory Systems. Student completed their word wall with 17 new terms.  The first ten terms will be on a quiz next Monday or Wednesday.  The structure of the Respiratory System was labeled and questions answered from the text. If students did not finish the 30.1 Respiratory and Circulatory Functions packet, it is homework due on Thursday.  Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis Tests were returned today. Students who are not happy with their grade can make corrections with Mrs. King or Mrs. Baker, have them checked, then retake the test for a better grade.  This test retake MUST BE DONE BY WEDNESDAY, DEC. 9th.

World History: Starting the Middle Ages.  Chapter 7 sections 1 and 2 are due by Friday, Dec. 4th.  Quiz on Gandhi on Wednesday to finish up--civil disobedience: 1) breaking unjust laws nonviolently, and 2) taking the punishment.  Chapters 7 (3) and (4) are due next week.  Don't forget Current Events--should have 3 done by now.

Algebra:  Finishing up Exponents, and will have a quiz this week.  Remember if the base is the same, just add the exponents.  If the bases are within parenthesis and followed by an exponent, multiply outside exponent with inside exponents.  Worksheet due on Wednesday---both sides of the work sheet except excluded problems.

After school help is available on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with me in room 241. Homework Club with Mr. Stanton is in room 67 on Thursdays from 2:15 until 3 p.m.  Students from the National Honor Society are there to help with tutoring.   Late buses are on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. If you don't know what bus you are on, just ask and Mrs. Baker will find out.

Have a good week Red Team!
 Happy 50th Anniversary Charlie Brown!!!
