October 5 through October 9, 2015

Mid-term has passed! Have you checked your Aspen account to see where you stand academically. Are you missing any assignments that can be made up?  What are you going to do differently for the rest of term 1?  Let's set a goal for the remainder of this term!

Museum of Science permission slips were sent home for the Freshman field trip on October 14. Permission slips are due by October 9 signed by a parent. The cost is $20.00. If for some reason you are unable to pay for the trip, please see me or Mr. Loranger. No student will be left behind due to an inability to pay.  Students will see exhibits and visit the IMAX theater.

Homework Club Thursday afternoons in Room 65 with Mr. Stanton. Come and get caught up on missing work, make up quizzes or tests, and just get your homework done.  National Honor Society students are there to help in different academic subjects.

Red Team Academics:

ELA/World History: Students continue to read Animal Farm by George Orwell and make connections between the play and the Russian Revolution.  Be prepared for a quiz in History. Do you know who the characters in Animal Farm were in the Russian Revolution? Be sure to study this!

ELA: New vocabulary this week with a quiz later in the week. Make flashcards and study. Also remember to do your Silent Reading and log every night. Also remember to renew your books if you checked them out of the school library.

History: The rise of Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin after World War I. Chapter 29 (3) and (4) are assigned this week.
This week we also study the Weimar election of 1932 that eventually led to Hitler becoming Fuhrer of Germany.  A quiz grade will be assigned to your performance in the simulation and explanation of the causes of Hitler's coming to power.

Biology: Cell Analogy project continues. Make sure you complete and share with Mrs. King. She can't grade it if she can't see it.

Algebra: Inequalities continue, and we will venture into the area of solving complex inequalities next. Stay up on your homework, and DON'T FORGET TO DO CONNECTED!!!! Remember to click done after you have emailed it to sclifford@plymouth.k12.ma.us.

Next Monday is Columbus Day.  Did he discover or encounter America?  Should we celebrate this day? Why did the founding fathers consider him a hero? We will be discussing whether he is a hero or a villain.  See what you think.
