It's a new week, after a glorious weekend. Sunshine, beautiful fall foliage, and warm temperatures made for an "outdoor" weekend. This is a busy week though, with a half day on Wednesday, and the Freshman Cookout at the South vs. Falmouth freshman football game on Thursday starting at 3:30 p.m. Homework club continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:15 until 3:00 p.m in room 218. Stop by for extra help, to get caught up, and just to get homework done. There are tutors as well as teachers who can help you. The first term ends a week from Friday, November 1st. Finish South Strong!!
English: Students are working on chapters one and two vocabulary--currently have words, definitions, words in context from Of Mice and Men, and are now working on writing their own sentences demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the words. Will be writing 3 sentences each day this week. As Chapter 2 is read, students are being introduced to the characters and are identifying and writing down characteristics, and are also answering guided reading/comprehension questions. No Daily Language this week.
Study Skills: Students need to put forth consistent effort, and work for the entire period. The end of the term is not the time to slack off. Agendas are an integral part of staying organized, getting work completed, and being prepared for class. In science, students are working on their own children's book explaining Physical Properties--due Wednesday. Chapter 2 Test is on Thursday. In math, students are solving systems of equations with substitution and elimination. In English, parables are being worked on and are due by Friday. Everyone should have an idea and has met with Mrs. Weston. In history, Confucianism, Taoism and Legalism are the subjects of the week. Be thinking because the question of the week is---Which philosophy is the best way to coach a team, teach a class, or help a student learn?
Have a good week, and see you at the Freshman Cookout on Thursday!!!
