September 12 - September 16, 2016

Here we go--the first full week of school.  On your mark, get set, go!!! After two partial weeks, it is time to get into the routine and structure of the block schedule.  Are you using your agenda? If not, why not?  Homework is an essential part of grade 9 classes.

History this week will focus on the chapters 26 (3) and (4)--the Great War!  Winning the War and then Making Peace. Make sure that you are working on your homework throughout the week--don't wait until the last minute to do it all.

English: Vocabulary test on Monday, continue with Lit terms--this week is situational irony.  Notes on Animal Farm,a satirical novella and allegory about the Russian Revolution where animals are used to exaggerate man's worst qualities.

Biology:  Word-wall this week as we begin the unit on GRACE  (or what are characteristics of living things?) Students will be working on vocabulary and looking at the individual characteristics that are needed for things to be classified as living.

Algebra: Quiz on order of operations, then continue with our review of solving single and multi-step equations.  Make sure that your homework is completed and that you bring your book to class.

Organization and time management are two of the most important concepts you need to work on this year.  Because of the block schedule, you cannot count on study skills to do all your homework.  It is important to do what you can at home, and work on subjects that give you difficulty in study skills.  Also during K block, there is math lab and writing lab where you can get extra help.

Late buses start this Thursday, September 15, and extra help is available after school on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Homework club begins on Thursday, September 22 with Mr. Stanton in room 67. Extra help from students in the National Honor Society is available during that time.

Picture Day is Friday, September 23rd!!!

Have a good week, Red Team!!!
