This will be the last entry on this blog, as I too, get ready to enjoy not only the summer but begin my retirement. I have been with Plymouth Public Schools since the fall of 1986, and am looking forward to spending time with family, friends, and doing some traveling.  It has been a wonderful experience working with so many wonderful teachers and students over the past thirty years, and I know that I shall miss you all.  Thank you Plymouth Public Schools!

May 22 - May 26. 2017 IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES

This week is senior exams so the first two periods of each day will be extended. There will be no K block this week. Make sure that you check Aspen, take advantage of late buses on Tuesday and Thursday, stay after and make up any missing work with your teachers.

IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES:

Monday, May 29th is Memorial Day - No School. Remember our veterans!

Saturday, June 3 is Graduation Day for the Class of 2017! Congratulations Seniors! The Building will be very empty next week without you.

Biology MCAS is Monday, June 5 and Tuesday, June 6. The exams are the first period each day--extended. MCAS is untimed so take your time and do your best. Make sure you fill out the review sheets that you are getting in class.  This will help you review not only for MCAS but for the finals as well.  Remember, the review sheets count as a 60 point quiz grade--easy A if you put in the time. A good way to raise your term grade, as well as prepare for the MCAS exam. MCAS reference sheets will be reviewed next week.  Use your packets to practice filling out the sheets.  On the day of the exam, you will be given a blank packet that you can write out when you get into the exam room.

Final exams are Tuesday, June 13 through Friday, June 16. There are two exams each day--one hour and a half periods. Thursday and Friday are 1/2 days--two exams, then 11:05 dismissal. The rest of the week are full days with regular classes. Schedules will be given out after the Memorial Day weekend.  Again, take the time to complete review sheets.

Last Day of School is Friday, June 16 unless you have to make up an exam.  All make up exams must be approved by Mr. Fornaciari.  The last day in the building is JUNE 19th.

This is the time for wrapping up another school year.  Take care of business, check Aspen, do you work each day.  Make sure you are not in a hole academically going into the final exams.  Remember, all with the mid-term, the final exam counts 20% of your yearly average.  Grades and credits are what count.

May 8 - May 12, 2017

Progress reports are this Friday.  Check Aspen, and make up any missing work before then so that you are caught up and can finish the year with less stress.

ELA: Of Mice and Men is finished, and we are working on the writing assignment to accompany the book.  You should have at least three paragraphs already, and should be thinking of writing your additional paragraphs. Also make sure that your Hometown poem is in the revision process.

History: Weekly homework assignments need to be completed.  Chapters 19 (4) late, Chapter 22 (3) and 709 (due this week), Chapter 22 (1) and (2) have been assigned and are due next week.  Current events 1 and 2 are now due. Napoleon Bonaparte video this week.

Algebra: Pythagoras, Pythagoras, Pythagoras.
Biology: Evolution continues.  Changes over time. Make sure that you stay up with your assignments. If you are missing any assignments, make them up and get them turned in.

Does this sound like a broken record--missing work needs to be made up and turned in.  You are only hurting yourself by throwing away points.  Remember, your midyear and final exams are averaged together and then averaged with your four term grades.  You can do this, if you put forth good solid effort.

Term 4--New Beginning that Leads to the End of the Year!

Red Sox Opening Day!! New beginnings for the Red Sox, now with Term 4 starting, it is a new beginning for you as well.  Time for you to put all your effort and motivation into a good solid term with completed homework, classwork, and test preparation. Get that agenda dusted off, open it up, and here we go.

After more than a week out of school due to illness, I feel a little behind. Come Monday, April 10, it will be back full steam ahead, and we will get on track together.  Thank you all for your wonderful Miss You Card, and flowers.  A special thank you to Mrs. Vincent for helping you stay on track, and making sure that you all did what was expected in class and for homework. I couldn't have done this without her assistance.  I have seen some wonderful letters from Riding the Rails--one of my favorite assignments so I am looking forward to our last book, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.

What will your goals be for this term?  You got your report card on Friday.  Was it what you expected, or were you surprised.  You shouldn't have been surprised, since you are to check Aspen at least once a week for missing work, and grades. Take time, think about what you want to achieve this term, and get ready to write your goal for term 4, and how you plan to achieve that goal. (Be specific).

Have a good week, Red Team.  It is only four days until April Vacation begins.  Work hard this week, and get ready for the final push when we come back on April 24, 2017.  It will be a very fast end of the year.  Don't get left behind. MCAS Biology is early June!

Biology: Genetics has begun.  Know the difference between Meiosis (makes egg/sperm cell) that carries genetic information to make YOU!  Mitosis make cells that renew and replace body cells.  By now you should know the difference between homozygous (TT and tt) and heterozygous (Tt), and genotype (TT, Tt, tt) and phenotype (what you look like). Mrs. Marks, the former science department head, will be with us for the remainder of the year. She taught biology for years and will get us ready for MCAS.  Do your homework, and stay on top of studying for quizzes/tests.  Too much missing work this term, and the term ends in two weeks!  Make up the DNA test this week if you didn't do well--remember to make corrections, then see Mrs. Marks or Mrs. Baker to retake the test by Friday, March 24.

Good Luck Sophomores on the ELA MCAS!!! You will do well, you have prepared with your English teachers. Just take your time, and do your best! I believe in YOU!  Mrs. Baker 😊
