Snowstorm, St. Patrick's Day, MCAS

Plus the clocks went forward and we lost an hour of sleep too!  All in one week!  Where is Spring??

Good Morning Red Team!

What a crazy couple of weeks it has been, and now there will be more changes with ELA MCAS testing for sophomores.  Your turn will come in June when you do the Biology MCAS.  MCAS Testing will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.  That means a room change for B1 and B2 on Tuesday, A4 and A3 on team classes Wednesday, B4 classes on Thursday.  The Team teachers will let you know where you are to go for classes on Monday.

ELA CP2: Due Wednesday: Two sources for your research project based on Indian Teenage couple executed by Parents for falling in Love.  Remember to copy in the URL, and write a summary in your own words.

History--All: Chapter 18 (1) and (2) due this week.  Any makeup must be in by Friday, March 24. Don't forget that your 5 current event sheets are due by the end of the term.

Algebra: Quadratic Equation, Factoring and Graphing Calculators!  Make sure that you are paying attention in class, doing your homework daily, and following along in class with the calculator practice.  CP2:  Finish the next two problems using the Quadratic Equation for homework due Tuesday.  BRING YOUR BOOK TO CLASS EVERYDAY THIS WEEK!!!!!  See me if you have any question about which problems you are supposed to do for Tuesday.

Biology: Genetics has begun.  Know the difference between Meiosis (makes egg/sperm cell) that carries genetic information to make YOU!  Mitosis make cells that renew and replace body cells.  By now you should know the difference between homozygous (TT and tt) and heterozygous (Tt), and genotype (TT, Tt, tt) and phenotype (what you look like). Mrs. Marks, the former science department head, will be with us for the remainder of the year. She taught biology for years and will get us ready for MCAS.  Do your homework, and stay on top of studying for quizzes/tests.  Too much missing work this term, and the term ends in two weeks!  Make up the DNA test this week if you didn't do well--remember to make corrections, then see Mrs. Marks or Mrs. Baker to retake the test by Friday, March 24.

Good Luck Sophomores on the ELA MCAS!!! You will do well, you have prepared with your English teachers. Just take your time, and do your best! I believe in YOU!  Mrs. Baker 😊
