Just want to update you on current projects that are in
process and have upcoming due dates.
- · Primary Source Decades Project for World History due May 8th. This project was assigned before vacation (more information on Mr. Stanton’s blog at mstantonhistory.blogspot.com) so that students would have an opportunity to talk with family and friends of different ages who lived through the 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s. If anyone can interview someone who lived through 1940’s and 1950’s, extra credit will be given, particularly someone who experienced World War II, the Cold War, and/or the Korean War. Students can stay afterschool with me this Thursday if needed.
- · Chemical Reaction Analogy Project will be completed primarily in science class using the Ipads. Students will be using the program Explain Everything and can chose a topic that they are most familiar with to make their own analogies. For more information check (jpotterscience.blogspot.com)
- · To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee is being read in English class. Students will be required to read independently and complete comprehension and writing activities based on the novel. Weekly assignments are available (westonenglish.blogspot.com)
Students are reminded to stay after school with teachers to
make up and submit any missing assignments. Encourage your student to check
with their teachers to find out what days they are now staying since schedules
can change. Homework Club is on Tuesdays
and Thursdays in room 218 with Mr. Loranger from 2:15 until 3:00. Late buses continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays
at 4:00 p.m. REMEMBER Mid-term is Friday, May 9th--Progress Reports come out May 16th.
The final countdown to the end of the year has begun with
only seven weeks to go, it is a busy time with MCAS Math on May 13 and 14, MCAS
Biology on June 2 and 3, and Senior Exams from May 23 through the 29th. Final Exam review week is June 10 through 13;
Final Exams begin on June 16 and finish with half day schedule on June 18 and
19. June 20th is only for make-up exams with permission from Mrs.
Fry. All of these impact class schedules and routines so it is important for
your student to stay up to date with assignments and studying for
tests/quizzes. This is not a time to
relax and slack off. Remember that final
exams count for 10% of the yearly grade.
Final exam grades, along with the mid-term exam grade, together count
the same as an entire quarter grade. Encourage
your student to take advantage of learning support and resources, and review
for finals. If they are given a study
guide, encourage them to complete it—this is an important study tool!
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or
