After a gorgeous spring weekend, it is back to school for four days. Major papers are due in English on Wednesday--stay after on Monday or Tuesday if you are not sure about expectations. In history, we are moving from the Industrial Revolution into the MAIN(s) causes of World War I and what was happening in Europe in the early 1900s. You will learn that MAIN is an acronym for Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism, and the (s) is the spark--death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. In science, we have finished the Water Unit, will go back to Chemistry to learn how to balance chemical equations, and then it is BIOLOGY for the remainder of the year.
English IB: Romeo and Juliet continue--after reading and taking notes on Act II this week, we will see the beginning of the movie. It is amazing that a play written so long ago can still make sense in 2014. Teenagers still fall in love at first sight, and let their emotions rule their lives. Just think about the drama that goes on at PSHS on a daily basis.
Study Skills: Report cards came out Friday, and improvement was shown for many of you. Keep up the good work. It is important for you to keep your own agenda since you will need to do it on your own next year. Get in the habit now of writing down assignments when your teachers tell you to "take out your agenda and write this down". You are fortunate that at least two of your teachers give you weekly assignment/agenda sheets. Keep up the good work, ask for help and stay after with your teachers when you are unsure what you are expected to do for an assignment. Don't let yourself get behind--it is difficult to "make up" and "keep up" at the same time.
